A Cod Addiction Satisfied

Written by editor

Earlier this week local Shetland angler David Nicolson, who describes himself as a ‘cod addict’, caught a magnificent 13lb 11oz cod  in the waters near his home in Shetland.

Nothing unusual about  that you might say until you realise David caught this fine fish  on a fly rod!

Fishing,  close in, from a small rowing boat, with  a sinking line, 8 lb  tippet and a shimmering  pink Clouser,   David told  Fish Wild  the cod took out 100 yards of line, and backing, towed the boat and took 15 minutes to land!

Such a fine cod could have made more than a few very tasty meals, but David, to his great credit returned the fish alive and well to the sea  to breed again, being well aware of  the perilous state of UK cod stocks.

 Well done David!
